Preparation
- Remove your prime rib from the refrigerator at least 1 hour before cooking to bring it to room temperature.
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
Season the Roast
- Rub olive oil all over the prime rib.
- Generously season with salt and pepper.
- Rub minced garlic cloves on the roast, followed by a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
Roasting
- Place your roast bone-side down in a roasting pan and roast for 20 minutes.
- Reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (135°F/57°C for medium-rare), which will take about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Resting
- Let your prime rib rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
Carve & Serve
- Slice your prime rib into thick, succulent pieces and serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
Timing is crucial; use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking. Resting time is essential for juicy meat. Wrap leftovers tightly and store in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or freeze for up to 6 months.
