Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth Use low-sodium broth for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup sour cream Full-fat sour cream yields the best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Ensure halal if necessary.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For browning the beef.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 1 lb of ground beef and cook, breaking it up as it browns. Season with salt and pepper to taste. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until they are tender.
  4. Pour in 1 cup of beef broth and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to combine the flavors.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and stir in 1 cup of sour cream. Mix well until everything is smooth and creamy.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with freshly chopped parsley on top.

Notes

Replace the beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Avoid cooking the sour cream on high heat to prevent curdling. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze in portions for up to 3 months.
